Summer Update

HELLO EVERYONE! HAPPY SUMMER!

The LGP Community Foundation held its first official board meeting on Monday, June 28th! Our founders have really pulled together a diverse, dedicated, and exciting team that will work hard to provide relief to the underserved and struggling families of Providence. We will be adding new bios in the coming weeks to introduce everyone!

As we dive into summer, we’ll be focused on providing resources and/or sponsoring recreational activities for children and families. Summer vacation can be a crucial time for children, especially. Many of the families we serve have parents who are working multiple jobs to make ends meet and simply don’t have the time or resources they need to provide safe, summertime fun and activities for their kids. We have also encountered children who don’t even have appropriate clothing for summer weather, wearing sweatshirts in the heat because that is all they have.

As such, we are looking for donations and/or volunteers to assist with providing basic needs to children and families this summer. That can include clothing, sports equipment, outdoor toys/games, arts & crafts, etc. Even a small donation can make a huge difference! Any volunteers in the community who can assist with providing safe activities for kids of all ages would be greatly appreciated. We have a few projects in the works already, so stay tuned for more details coming soon!

Since summer flies by pretty fast, we will also be gearing up to participate in the Pleasant View Elementary School’s annual Back To School event on August 31st. We will be accepting donations for school supplies, backpacks, pens and pencils, notebooks, binders, etc. to help give these students the tools they need to succeed this coming school year. More info on that soon as well.

Stay safe and keep cool!
